Giving Tuesday

Image
Today is Giving Tuesday, an opportunity for people around the world to come together through generosity in all its forms by sharing acts of kindness and giving their voice, time, money, goods, and advocacy to support communities and causes.    This year, we invite you to join TX-CERA for our first Giving Tuesday by making a donation through Paypal. All donations will go toward replenishing emergency response supplies, such as masks and gloves, and fund our 2022 in person Emergency Response Training Workshop.    Not able to donate today? We accept PayPal donations year-round. You can also make giving easy by adding TX-CERA as your AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com) charity, automatically donating a portion of qualifying purchases to TX-CERA.    We appreciate any amount you are able to give.    PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=MATWGFGZKFP8N

FAIC Grant Recipients

We are pleased to announce that TX-CERA is one of four Alliance for Response networks chosen to receive a microgrant from FAIC. This grant will go toward our 2022 Emergency Response Training Workshop.

NCPTT Preservation Matters

The National Center for Preservation Technology and Training is building a library of practical maintenance and post-disaster advice on a range of topics. Each brief has pictures to help anyone who reads it better understand the material. https://www.nps.gov/subjects/ncptt/preservation-matters.htm

Hazardous Materials and How to Manage Them

This summer, AIC & FAIC hosted a fantastic webinar on hazardous materials. This video will help you figure out whether you have hazardous materials in your collection, and how to manage them.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbTz_maOIck

Sustainability Tools in Cultural Heritage (STiCH)

FAIC's Sustainability Tools in Cultural Heritage (STiCH) helps you to make decisions on what materials to use for your collection based not just on archival qualtiy, but also the environmental footprint the materials leave behind. The Carbon Calculator allows you to search a database of materials, and the Case Study section lists several studies comparing materials that have been completed or are in progress.    https://stich.culturalheritage.org/
